Day by day
Each day is split into stages, with time, type of activity and tips from your guide. Open and close the stages to read at your own pace.
Transfer from Lençóis to Guiné
We leave Lençóis before sunrise, about an hour and a half by road to the village of Guiné, where the trail begins. A quick coffee before lacing up the boots.
Aleixo climb to the Gerais do Rio Preto
The toughest stretch of day one: a steady climb up the Aleixo slope to the plateau. Up top the landscape opens into the Gerais do Rio Preto, rocky grassland, wind and a flat horizon.
An exposed climb with no shade halfway. Carry at least 2 liters of water and start before 8am.
Pati Viewpoint
The first view of the whole valley from above. We stay as long as the group wants; this is where most people understand why they came.

Arrival at Igrezinha
Down to the Igrezinha area, where we stay with a local family. Shower, rest and a late lunch.
The small colonial church along the way is one of the valley’s cultural stops, built by the residents with stone from the mountain itself.
Altina and Funis waterfalls
Two waterfalls close to the lodging, with cold pools, perfect to stay until the sun goes down. End of day one.

Breakfast at the lodging
A hearty family breakfast in the valley, with cake, fruit and freshly brewed coffee.
Walk to the base of Morro do Castelo
We leave the big backpacks at a support lodge on the way and continue light to the base of the mountain.
Take only water, a snack and a rain cover for the Castelo climb. Everything else stays behind and you pick it up in the afternoon.
Morro do Castelo climb and its two viewpoints
The postcard of Pati. A rock climb to the top, two viewpoints facing opposite sides of the valley, then back down to the lodging.

Breakfast and packing up
The longest day of the crossing, 18 km. An early start, with trail snacks in the backpack.
Fenda da Prefeitura climb
A narrow passage between rock walls, climbing natural steps. A stretch that needs both hands free.
On rainy days the rock in the crevice gets slippery. The guide decides on the spot whether we go through it or take the alternative route.
Cachoeirão Viewpoint
A view from above of the Cachoeirão falls, one of the most photographed landscapes in the valley. Snack time here.
Back across the Gerais, down the Aleixo and transfer to Lençóis
Back over the plateau, down the Aleixo to Guiné and a car transfer back to Lençóis, closing the crossing.
